International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day

On November 19th, 2016, we attended a Survivor of Suicide Loss event hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) at the Radisson Hotel in Camp Hill. We are so fortunate to have been so close to an event, we literally live right down the road from the venue. We are also fortunate that events like this and resources like this for survivors even exists today. Please reach out to the AFSP if you or someone you know is struggling to cope with a suicide loss of a loved one. We found that attending this day was very beneficial for us. We got to hear the Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick as a keynote speaker. They provided us with a delicious lunch, gave us a showing of a film put together by a whole team of individuals within the AFSP, and allowed an opportunity for open discussion at the end of the event. It was a great opportunity to connect with other local survivors and to receive support from individuals who have walked the same path as you. International Survivors of Suicide Loss Day falls on the Saturday before Thanksgiving each year. Maybe it is time for you to consider reaching out and getting help coping with your loss!
